QULOC Roles

Convenor, University Librarians' Committee

The convenor is elected from among the University Librarians and holds the position for two years.  The main responsibility of the Convenor is to chair the University Librarians' meetings and follow up on any issues arising.  The Executive Officer meets regularly with the convenor to discuss matters arising from the Working Parties and to seek advice on QULOC related issues.

Mentor, Working Parties

Each Working Party has a Mentor who represents the Working Party at the University Librarians' Committee and in turn interprets the University Librarians perspective to the Working Party. The Mentor also provides assistance and advice and communicates bigger picture and related higher education and library issues and contexts. The Mentor attends as many Working Party meetings as possible, in person or via teleconference or videoconference and is a member of the listserv.

Convenor, Working Parties

The Convenor chairs meetings of the Working Party, liaises with the Executive Officer on the agenda and activities of the Working Party, and liaises with the Mentor on matters relevant to the Working Party.  The Convenor prepares a report on the activities of the Working Party for each of the University Librarians' Committee meetings.

Executive Officer

The Executive Officer acts as meeting secretary, and organizes administration and follow-up work for all activities.  This includes compiling and distributing agendas and arranging seminars in consultation with the relevant Convenor.  The Executive Officer also coordinates the activities of the Working Parties and liaises between the Working Parties and the University Librarians' Committee.  Maintenance of the QULOC website and electronic lists is also performed by the Executive Officer.

The QULOC Office rotates in a 2 year cycle. The convenorship is currently located at the Australian Catholic University.
